Ingredients
- 5 thick slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced (or more to taste)
- 1 medium head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 pinch of white sugar
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Step by Step
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the bacon and set it aside.
- Cook Onion and Garlic:
- In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the chopped onion and minced garlic.
- Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add Cabbage and Seasonings:
- Stir in the shredded or chopped cabbage.
- Add paprika, sugar, salt, and black pepper, mixing to combine.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Combine with Bacon:
- Stir the cooked bacon back into the skillet with the cabbage mixture.
- Simmer on low heat until the cabbage reaches your desired consistency, 20 to 30 minutes.
- Serve:
- Serve hot or lukewarm.
