FRIED-CABBAGE (WITH BACON, ONION, & GARLIC)

Ingredients

  • 5 thick slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (or more to taste)
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, shredded or chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch of white sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Step by Step

  1. Cook the Bacon:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, about 5 minutes.
    • Remove the bacon and set it aside.
  2. Cook Onion and Garlic:
    • In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the chopped onion and minced garlic.
    • Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add Cabbage and Seasonings:
    • Stir in the shredded or chopped cabbage.
    • Add paprika, sugar, salt, and black pepper, mixing to combine.
    • Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Combine with Bacon:
    • Stir the cooked bacon back into the skillet with the cabbage mixture.
    • Simmer on low heat until the cabbage reaches your desired consistency, 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve hot or lukewarm.
